What EVA foam feels like on the trail
EVA foam grips have a soft, slightly spongy surface that absorbs sweat and dampens vibration from the ground. On long descents, that cushioning can be easier on the palm than harder grip materials. The tradeoff is that foam can feel less precise when you need a firm, locked-in hold on technical terrain.
Colors and sizes in this grip style
The selection includes poles in black, brown, blue, gray, green, and red, with some models pairing a primary color with a contrasting accent. Adjustable lengths run from 90 cm to 135 cm, and fixed-length options appear at 115 cm and 125 cm. Grip sizes are not listed separately; the handle is built into the pole.
EVA versus cork and rubber grips
Cork grips mold to your hand over time and stay cooler in heat, while rubber grips offer a tackier feel in wet conditions. EVA sits between them: softer than rubber, more shock-absorbing than cork, but it can wear faster with heavy use. If you prioritize comfort over long-term durability, EVA is the practical choice.
When EVA grips make sense
These poles suit day hikes, walking, and casual trekking where hand comfort matters more than gram-counting. They also work well for people who grip poles loosely and want a forgiving surface. For alpine scrambling or multi-week expeditions, a harder grip material may hold up better.
EVA grip questions
Do EVA grips get slippery when wet?
They absorb some moisture but can become slick with heavy rain or sweat.
Can I replace an EVA grip if it wears out?
Grips are not typically sold as separate replacements for these poles.
Are EVA grips warmer in cold weather?
The foam insulates slightly better than bare rubber or metal.
Do these poles come in pairs?
Some models are sold as single poles and others as pairs.
